Peewee Rep, 2013-2014 (Minto Minor Hockey Association)

Drew Bell was the recipient of the Hard Working Pee Wee Helmet numerous times during the 2013 – 2014 Season.    Better known as “Bellie “,  Drew was selected by his teammates to be their Captain.  Drew is not the largest Mad Dog by size,  not the fastest Mad Dog in skating the dreaded “ Mile “ drill,  nor the Mad Dog with the hardest shot,  but for sure, when Drew was on the ice,  he was in control of the Mad Dog play and the game.   Whether Drew was quarterbacking the Mad Dog powerplay,   digging the puck out of the corner with most times two opposing players surrounding him, those end to ...

Braydon Brooking was recently awarded the Hard Working Pee Wee Helmet by his teammates.  Braydon plays defence for the Mad Dogs and with it a key role on the blue line in penalty killing and powerplay.   Braydon  is the tallest of the defencemen and is known for his excellent shot ability,  whether clearing the puck during a penalty kill or getting that high wrister into the net from the blue line.  Braydon’s  goal objective at the start of the season was to obtain 3 goals.  Thanks to his Bauer Vapour, Braydon achieved this goal in the first couple of weeks in the season and had to reset his ...

Noah Aitken was recently awarded the Hard Working Pee Wee Helmet by his teammates.  Noah plays right wing for the Mad Dogs and  plays a key role in Mad Dog’s special teams.  Noah is the tallest of the forwards and has the most majical hands with the puck.  Noah’s soft hands and his stick of choice, the Bauer Total NXG,  have enabled him to find the back of the net many times this year plus assisting on many of his linemate’s goals.   Noah is also known for his “ BIG SHOT FROM THE SLOT “,  giving opposing netminders fits as many are one timers. 

Ryan Helmka was recently awarded the Hard Working Pee Wee Helmet by his teammates.  Ryan plays right wing for the Mad Dogs, plays a key role in special teams and has been know to take a few face offs.  Ryan’s on ice play whether fore checking or back checking truly emulates the Hard Working Pee Wee title.  Ryan’s leadership in the dressing room and on the ice mirrors that of his favourite NHL Player – Steve Yzerman and his role while playing with the Detroit Red Wings.   Ryan’s favourite Hockey Stick is his Warrier and it is helping him achieve his season goal of 80 points. 

After getting by the West Grey Huskies in the first round of OMHA Playdowns,  the Mad Dogs would face the Blyth Brussels Crusaders in the second round.   The Crusaders met up with the Mad Dogs twice during regular season play and both times were victorious over the Mad Dogs by a single goal.  Those matches were early in the season and we all hoped that the hard work in practices and strong play throughout the West Grey series would propel the Mad Dogs to a victory in the 6 point series.
