Pee Wee Mad Dogs Win First Round in OMHA Playdowns
The Pee Wee Mad Dogs started their OMHA Playoff run against the West Grey Huskies.   The wintery weather delayed scheduling the series by a few days and loss of the coin toss meant starting in Durham but that didn’t phase the determined Mad Dog team.  Game 1 started off with both teams getting a feel for each other,   Minto would strike first mid way through the period to end the first frame with 1 – 0 lead.  

The second period saw West Grey draw their first penalty and while on the powerplay,  the Mad Dogs got rolling and notched their second goal. The Mad Dogs continued to hold the play momentum in the second frame adding 7 additional goals to take a commanding 8 – 2 lead.  They added an additional 2 goals in the third frame to win the first game 10-2. 

The second game in Harriston a few nights later saw a very determined West Grey Team,  each team having equal play time with the puck and quality goal scoring chances.  Both Goalies played exceptional only allowing a goal each.   In the third period,   the Mad Dogs were able to notch a 3 goals to take a 4 – 1 lead . West Grey stayed focused and never let up and were rewarded with a goal late in the third period but the clock would stop them as Minto took game 2 with a score of 4 – 2.

In  Durham for game 3,  the Mad Dogs would again face a very determined and focused West Grey Team.  Neither team were able to get on the scoreboard in the first frame, Minto was the first to score in the second period around the 11 minute mark,  closely followed with their second goal of the game mid way through the period. Both Teams would add a goal in the third period and when the buzzer sounded, Minto  had defeated West Grey 3  - 1 and will advance to the second round.

Over the three games,  the Mad Dogs notched 17 goals with 25 recorded assists.  The series win was truly a team effort as every Mad Dog made it onto the scoresheet earning a goal and / or an assist.   Earning the most assists in the series was Ryan Litt and Will ( 6 each), Noah (3), Ian, Boston and Braydon with 2 each, Logan, Drew, Ryan H, and Josh each earning an assist.  Scoring top spot was earned by Logan ( 4 ) followed with Ryan Helmka ( 3 ) with Ian, Josh, and Will adding two goals each, Drew, Noah, Braydon and Ryan L notching one each.   The Mad Dogs active defence played a big part in this series accounting for 25% of the goals and assists …..   with Drew and Morgan playing great in the nets allowing the defence to play an offensive style.

The Mad Dogs now advance to play Blyth Brussels  ………  Keep up the Great Work Mad Dogs !!!
