Midget Rep, 2012-2013 (Minto Minor Hockey Association)

This past weekend the Minto Mad Dogs Midget Rep Hockey Club traveled to Forest, ON to compete in the International Silver Stick Finals tournament.    Game 1 of round robin play was early Friday morning against Glencoe &Bothwell, now called Southwest. Our boys got off to a quick start and didn’t let up, taking the game 7-1.  The second game took place early Friday afternoon against Cincinnati, Ohio.  This game was back and forth for the most part but when the final buzzer went Minto won the game 5-3.   

With finishing pool play 3-0, the boys played in the semi finals Sunday against Shallow Lake.  Winning that game 3-0 to get a birth into the final game 2 hours later.  In the Final, up 2-0, Wingham scored 2 late goals in the third to tie up the game, sending it to overtime. With this group of players being in pressure situation's over the last year, they knew what they had to do to get the job done. With 2:21 left in the first overtime period Minto got the winning goal to earn them a birth at the International Silver Stick Tournament in Forest in January.  Those 2 goals Wingham scored were ...
