Minto Novice LL tournament finalists!
On Sunday January 11th Minto's Novice LL team captured the title of "A" finalists.
Minto started the tournament at 8:00a.m playing Mt. Forest and proved that they have lots of energy first thing in the morning. The fnal score was 9-0 for Minto. Goals scored by Andrew Mallett (4 g), Parker Miller (4g), Leah Herrfort (1). Assists by Ryan Litt (1a), Brooke Drost (1a), Andrew Mallett (1a), Drew Bell (2a), Parker Miller (3a). Bailey Sinclair got the shut out in net.
Minto played an evenly matched Hanover team in the second game to win 1-0 in a shoot out. During regulation play neither teams were able to be successful with the puck. Still after 5 minute sudden death overtime the score remained 0-0. Then fans witnessed the only shoot out of the tournament. What an experience for these young hockey players! After three shooters it was still scoreless. The fourth shooter, Ryan Litt was able to get one past the Hanover goaltender and the Hanover shooter was shut down by Bailey Sinclair. So this qualified Minto to advance to the finals of the "A" side.
In the Championship game Minto faced a speedy Mildmay team and obviously did not have enough gas in the tank to compete against this team who had a few skilled players. Minto was not able to find the net to put any numbers on the board this game. The final score was 5-0 for Mildmay who took home the "A" championship game. Great tournament Minto!
