Minto Novice LL gearing up for next weekends tournament!
Minto was successful in defeating the Drayton Defenders in Palmerston on Saturday Jan 3rd. The game was close for most of the game but Minto continually put pressure on Drayton to capture the win. 4-2.
At 2:59 in the first period Minto was able to grab the puck in front of the net and pop it in after several unsuccessful scrambles. Goal was scored by Ryan Helmka with assist by Drew Bell. Then in the second period Parker Miller broke free and charged to the net making a move on the Drayton goaltender to make the score 2-0. Bailey Sinclair made many key saves to keep Minto on top. With 4 minutes left in the second period Drayton was able to get on the scoreboard to make the score close at 2-1. Minto applied pressure again in the Drayton end soon after the third period started and were able to execute a nice team play. Parker Miller passed the puck out in front of the net to Andrew Mallett who put it in to make the score 3-1. It was certainly looking like Minto would win this one as they continued to battle the team. Their fourth and final goal was scored by Parker Miller on a break away. Drayton was able to get by the defense with 2 minutes left in the game to make the final score 4-2. The team is gearing up for next weekends tournament and looks like it will be a good one!
