Atom LL 1 Off to a strong start in their 2011 – 2012 Season
The Atom LL 1 Team is off to a terrific start to the 2011 – 2012 Regular Season.

The Atom LL 1 Team is off to a terrific start to the 2011 – 2012 Regular Season.  They defeated the Durham Muskies in their season opener in Durham and were able to clinch another win in their second matchup against Durham a week later in Palmerston.  A close 3-2 win over the Listowel Cyclones in Listowel taught them that a strong effort is needed in all shifts and all three periods.  With the lines starting to gel and confidence building,  the Atom Maddogs were ready to take on the Ayton Atoms for a Saturday matinee in Palmerston.

The Maddogs came out strong and played a very strong first period. The play was back and forth with good chances at both ends.  Minto was able to get on the board in the first period when Noah Aitken took a pass from Andrew Mallett and with a good wrist shot from the face off circle beat the Ayton goaltender shortside.  The Maddogs continued their strong effort in the second and with goals from Noah Aitken and Braedon Thornton end the period with a 3 – 0 lead over Ayton.  The third period saw each team killing a penalty and strong play back and forth for both teams.  Brayden Brooking gave the Maddogs a 4-0 lead after he capped off an end to end rush with a great shot to beat the Ayton Goaltender.

A great team effort by everyone and Congrats to Zach Harrow on a terrific glove hand save late in the third period off an Ayton breakaway to earn his shutout.  The Maddogs next game is Monday November 14 against the Maddogs Atom LL#2 Team -  Come out and cheer on the Maddogs !!!

Scoring for Minto were Noah Aitken with 2 goals, Brayden  Brooking and Braedon Thornton with a goal each,   Assists from Andrew Mallett  ( 2 ) and Kansas Laprade and Ian Jamieson ( 1 each )

Lets keep the momentum going Maddogs !!!
