The Atom Maddogs #1 ended off their regular season on Saturday February 4 against the Durham Huskies in Palmerston. Keeping with their style of play all season, the Maddogs came out slow but gained momentum as the game unfolded. When the buzzer sounded to end the game, the Maddogs were victorious beating the Huskies 6 – 0.
The win over the Huskies ended off a terrific season for the Maddogs. They went undefeated during regular season play and in both the Clifford and Minto Tournaments during January, were able to clinch the title of “ A SIDE CHAMPIONS “ going undefeated in both Tournaments.
Their winning record placed them 1st overall in the WOAA – South Central Division standings with a perfect 17 – 0 record and 34 points. Over the 17 WOAA scheduled games, the mighty Maddogs scored 96 goals against opposing teams, only Hanover ( 111 goals ) and BCH ( 99 goals ) were able to net more - WAY TO GO OFFENSE !!. When it came to goals scored on them by opposing teams, the Maddogs were Top Dogs amongst other teams. In the 17 games, the Maddogs only gave up 16 goals, Walkerton was the only team allowing fewer with 14 goals. WAY TO GO ZACK AND DEFENSE !!!!
The Maddogs start their WOAA Playoff run on Friday February 10 in Ayton against the Wildcats.
