Atom LL 1 Win Back to Back Series with Mildmay (11-1 Game 1) and (8-0 Game 2)
The Minto Maddogs Atom LL 1 Team continued their winning ways with back to back victories over Mildmay. Game 1 in Palmerston on November 1 started off slow for the Maddogs. A couple penalties back to back in the first period meant they were playing short for close to half the period. The play was back and forth with both teams having good scoring chances. Nearing the end of the first period, after successfully killing both penalties, the Maddogs were able to net a couple goals and came out of the first period with a 2-0 lead. With no penalties in the second and third periods, the Maddogs were able to find their offensive groove and netted 6 goals in the second and another 2 goals in the third to overtake the Mildmay Atoms by a score of 11-1. Owen Day played a very strong game in goal for the Maddogs stopping two breakaways in the second and third period – Way to Go Owen !!
The Maddogs returned to Mildmay for the rematch on Friday November 5th. Their energy level was high from the moment they left the dressing room till the Buzzer sounded to end the third period. Unlike Game 1, the Maddogs were able to stay out of the penalty box early on. The play was back and forth with both teams have good scoring chances. The Maddogs were more puck hungry and in the end came away with an 8-0 win. Playing net for the Maddogs was Bailey Sinclair. Bailey earned his second league shutout for the season but it didn’t come easy as Bailey was forced to make some good saves in close during Mildmay powerplays in both the 2nd and 3rd period. Kudo’s Bailey on your second Shutout !!
Over the two games, scoring for Minto were Kaleb Irvin with 5 goals and 2 assists, Ryan Helmka notching 5 goals and 3 assists, Ryan Litt with 4 goals and 2 assists, Ethan Lemke with 2 goals and 2 assists, Noah Aitken with 1 goal and 5 assists, Owen Day with 1 goal and 1 assist, Ian Jamieson with 1 goal and 1 assist, Braydon Brooking with 2 assists and Brandon Woodroffe with an assist.
