Atom LL Victorious in their season opener !!
The Minto Mad Dogs Atom LL 1 started off their 2010 / 2011 regular season with an afternoon matchup in Listowel against the Cyclones. Having the power skating clinic behind them and some great practices over the past couple of weeks, they were ready for their first game. Minto came out strong in the first period using their fast skating and passing skills to keep the play in Listowel’s end of the ice for the majority of the period. Minto’s plan worked well , when the buzzer rang at the end of the first period, Minto had built up a 6-0 lead. Listowel responded with a stronger effort in the second and third period but their aggressive play resulted in some penalties which gave the Minto opportunities to add to their score. When the buzzer rang at the end of the 3rd period, Minto had registered 40 shots on the Listowel goaltender and came away with a 9 -0 win. Bailey Sinclair and Owen Day shared goal tending duties and registered their first shutouts – Congrats. Leading the scoring for Minto was Kaleb Irvin with 5 goals, Ryan Helmka notching 3 goals and Noah Aitken found the back of the net for a goal . Ryan Litt led Minto with 4 assists, Ethan Lemke (3) Josh Gray (1) Brandon Woodroffe (1) Noah Aitken (2) Kaden Johnson (2) and Ian Jamieson (1)
