Peewee win Essa Ice Busters tournament
The Minto Peewee Rep made the long trip to Essa for a 8am. game vs the host team. I have a feeling they might have looked at our record and thought we would provide them with their first win. The thought quickly left their head as our first three shifts resulted in two goals and we where off to the races.

Before the game was over their was debate in the lobby as to whether it was 9-0 10-0 or even 11-0. Essa tried to make a game out of it late and never gave up trying to put some pressure on Owen R but he was up to the task and recorded his second shutout off the season. Unfortunately I never retrieved the game sheets so I will rely on my very old memory and summarize the best I can. I apologize for not getting the game sheets. The next game was vs Lucknow and the boys battled hard and came out with a well earned 2-2 tie. Following that result and the tourn being a point system  we had 7pts from the first game and 3.5 from the second which guaranteed us a spot in the A final Vs Embro. The Boys again came out flying again and before we knew it we had a big lead. The boys kept playing hard but Embro to their credit didn't give up and ended up with two late goals to make it 5-2 Maddogs.
My few cents on why we won the tournament.
The Players played as a team- Elliot  made some beautiful passes which resulted in a couple nice goals by Ryan V. Kody I was a force all wkd the teams we played just couldn't handle his speed or his devastating slap shots. In addition we had Kody I on the ice, where we need him all wkd Penalty Free.  Good Job Kody. Elliot M also was a one man  penalty killing machine when we did take a penalty. We had very few penalties on the wkd.
Clayton M used his speed and Matthew W skated and dug for all he was worth. Matthew W got up from a scary looking crash into the end boards which I contribute to him being a Country/Farm Boy. Nick W used his size to screen the goalie when he didnt have the puck. And when he did get some nice feeds from Brody M or Brandon H Nick B buried it with his great shot. Brody M also recorded his 1st goal of the yr. Jaxon W who was a threat all day was just flying and looked like a young Scott Niedermayer (look him up) The ever dependable Mason L made some great d to d passes with Jaxon and kept the other team running around which opened up some passing lanes. Mason played his usual solid game when the parents where nervous he was cool as a cucumber. Connor M kept the other team honest with his end to end rushes and his solid d. Clark c Played aggressive but didn't take a penalty and he skated with the puck when he had a room and got a few shots away from the point. Hunter Allan skated his butt off and he never gave up giving the other team fits as he seemed everywhere at once.
So to sum up we made great passes, got in the open, didn't take bad penalties, skated hard forechecked hard, played our positions but got after the puck and we had solid Goaltending By Odog the Goalie. All of you played as a team with everyone contributing so in the end  the stats really don't matter.

Or it could have just been the offer of free pizza if you won all your games.

Great Tournament I cant wait to find out  How you will do Vs Blyth Brussels in playoffs.
LOL Go Maddogs

Thanks to the Coaching staff for their continued work with the boys and their time and dedication it is appreciated.
