Peewee Rep Maddogs win Consolation Trophy at Clifford Tournament
This Update is for Hunter who thinks I write too much.
We won our 1st game lost our 2nd game won our 3rd game and we are consolation Champs.

Nothing like Hockey at 8am in Clifford. As someone who did not want to get out of his bed at 6am I was curious how the boys would react. Especially as at least I would have my morning timmies to pick me up mind you the boys are a couple of years younger than me. The Boys where coming off a game in Seaforth that the effort they put forth should have netted them a better result but unfortunately they ran into a hot goaltender and they lost 2-0.
How would they react to playing a good game and coming out on the wrong end.
Well,
The first game was vs South Bruce and the boys came out flying crisp passes between the D Men and onto our forwards and we where off. The Boys played their positions well and got into the open when we had the puck so they could receive pinpoint passes from our D Men. And when we didn't have the puck players like Clayton M were flying and he put real pressure on the South Bruce d causing numerous turnovers. The Dogs had South Bruce cornered in our backyard and they wanted out. South Bruce took a body checking penalty at 5:49 of the 1st period and then 20 seconds later took a tripping penalty giving us a five on three. While 45 secs after the 1st penalty was called, Ryan (I've come so close but haven't scored but i keep working hard) was finally rewarded with his first of the season with assists to Elliot M and Cody I. Maddogs 1 SB 0. And we still had the man Advantage but not for long as Nick W who has had chances but his sights have been a bit off also potted his first with a very workmanlike assist from Matthew W. Minto 2 and South Bruce 0. With 2:30 left in the first period Cody I decided to give South Bruce an opportunity with the man advantage. Brody M and Brandon H along with Connor M and Clark C did an excellent job of killing off the first minute of the penalty with strong fore-checking and positional play and not allowing SB to get going. In the second half of the penalty the Twin Towers Mason L and Jaxon W along with Hunter A and Elliot M killed off the second Half. In the second period thanks to two great passes from Cody I who found a wide open Connor M who blasted in two goals in from the point. Ryan V and Elliot M get unofficial assists for creating chaos in front of South Bruces goalie. Finally Connor completed his natural hat trick in the third period with a beautiful end to end rush finishing with him roofing it while cutting across the crease.
Final Score Minto 5 South Bruce 0 and a shutout for Owen
Next West Grey
We finished the first in a 0-0 tie they are a big team but we had more speed. West Grey managed to score early in the second period (15 sec in) to break the deadlock. The game was chippy as penalties accumulated for both teams which played into West greys Hands as some of our offensive weapons landed in the Box. Our penalty kill was effective as West Grey was unable to capitalize on their 3 power plays. Unfortunately we couldn't capitalize on their two body checking penalties, one crosschecking or one roughing penalty. West grey 45 seconds into the third period to go up by 2 and then finished the Scoring 2 mins later to win 3-0
Thanks to our 11 points we finished third and played Blyth Brussels in the consolation Final
The 1st period was a scoreless draw as we traded chances back and forth with no real flow to the game. Early in the second Nick w headmanned a pass to Ellliot m who snapped a shot that BBs goalie couldn't handle leaving the charging Hunter A to pop in his first goal of the year on a delayed penalty to BB. Late in the 2nd BB took advantage of some scrambled play in our end and scored two quick goals to take the lead. The Boys didn't give up and had some great chances until Cody I buried a rebound from a Clark C Blast with an assist from Connor M to tie it up. The boys picked it up and with another pass from Nick w to Connor M who wristed a shot at the net that that fell to Hunter A who was parked to the right of the net. Hunter A made no mistake and put the puck in the top shelf where they keep the Peanut Butter. The boys than played smart hockey skating and forechecking hard and keeping BB from mounting any serious threat to Odog the Goalie.
Good tournament Boys although it would have been nice to have another go at west grey you keep improving and when you play as a team you are fun to watch. Congratulations Hunter, Nick , Ryan with their First Goals of the year.
Thanks to Brook,Shayne,Ian, and Steve for working with boys, they are definitely improving and coming together as a team.
