Atom Reps Win Regional Silverstick Championship
Congratulations to the Atom Reps on winning the Regional Silverstick Championship this past weekend in Wingham. The boys went undefeated with a 5&0 record against some very tough competition to earn a spot in the International Silverstick in January.

Game 1 was against West Grey - we had played West Grey previoulsy and each meeting proved to be a competitve game.  Minto came out on top with a 5-2 win in their first game of the tournament.

Next up was Seaforth.  This was a tight game, with Minto going into the third period leading 1-0.  The Mad Dogs would then net 3 goals in the third and win their second game with a score of 4-1.

Game 3 was on Saturday versus Six Nations.  Minto knew that in order to secure top spot in their group they needed a win in this game.  This was a very tough, back and forth game, with Minto having to fight off 16 minutes of penalties and a 5 on 3 short-hand situation. The Mad Dogs never gave up and with the game being tied 5-5 Minto persevered and scored with just 1:31 remaining in the game to win the contest 6-5.

Three straight wins put the boys into the semi-finals against Drayton.  This game proved to be another tough game against a strong team, and down by 2 in the third Drayton would pull their goalie and score with 1:25 left on the clock.  Minto stayed composed and finished the game strong, winning a 4-3 decision and a place in the finals.

The championship game was against Plattsville. Minto appeared relaxed and focused and came out strong, scoring within the first 2 minutes of the game.  The Mad Dogs knew they needed to keep the pressure on, playing strong on both offense and defense, and they definitely did, going on to finish the game with a dominating 7-0 victory to win the Championship.

This is a great accomplishment for this team and everyone is very proud of the boys and their coaches.  Every player worked hard each game, and the coaching staff supported and encouraged them every step of the way.  Congratulations and good luck in a well deserved placement in the International Silverstick in January.
