PeeWee Reps take 2-0 series lead in OMHA Semi-Final
On Saturday March 2, 2013 at 8am the PeeWee Rep Team, their Coaches, Parents and Families boarded a bus heading to Kawartha (between Peterborough and Lindsay) to face off against the Coyotes in the OMHA Semi-finals.

After a 3 & 1/2 hour bus ride the boys knew they would need to get rid of their “bus legs” and get focused on the task at hand.  Admittedly we were all a bit nervous heading into the weekend.

The Mad Dogs came out on the ice determined to execute their game plan.  Despite the jitters and the long bus ride, the boys came out flying.  This would be a fast paced game.  The Coyotes weren't going to be an easy opponent.

Even though most of the 1st period play was in the Coyotes end the Mad Dogs only managed to knock one past the Kawartha goalie who made save after save.   Through the remainder of the game Minto managed to put two more goals into the Coyote net.  Trevor Scott, in net for Minto, was also a force to be reckoned with.  Trevor made many phenomenal saves to shut the Coyotes down.

By games' end the Mad Dogs were victorious with a 3-0 win over the Coyotes.  Everyone was thrilled to walk away from the arena with the Game 1 win.  Way to go Team!!!

After spending the night in Peterborough, the team bus headed back to the Coyotes den for Game 2.  As the boys headed into the arena it was evident they had their game faces on – quiet and focused.  As a parent, it is a strange but astonishing thing to watch our kids who usually are so lively and animated instantly become so focused on the game of hockey!

The starting whistle gave way to a set of teams who were both out to win.  The game was back and forth for most of the 1st period.  This game was definitely a more physical game with neither team backing down.  Despite the Coyotes efforts to shut Minto down, the Mad Dogs hammered 6 shots past the Kawartha Goalie.  Morgan Troyer, in net for the Mad Dogs, was on top of his game and turned away all Coyote scoring attempts.

The final buzzer left the Minto Mad Dogs sitting with a 6-0 win over the Kawartha Coyotes!  Way to go boys!  Congrats to both the Team and Coaches alike!!!!

Boys, we are proud of you .... no matter how the game is going, you never give up, you play as a team and your passion for the game shines through!!

Way to Go Mad Dogs!!!

The PeeWee Reps are scheduled to play Kawartha on Friday March 8th at 6pm in Harriston and Saturday March 9th at 2:30pm in Harriston.  Come out to cheer them on and watch some great hockey!!
