Exhibition record of 2-1
On September 23, the Minto Atom Reps began a 3 game tune up for the season and came away with a record of 2-1.  A home and away with Listowel, with scores of 7-2 and 7-4, and a home game loss of 4-3 against Mt Forest.

On October 16, the regular season would begin in Mt. Forest and the team was eager to win.  They did just that with a score of 3-2 but would have to work for it.
In the first period Minto was on the board at the 7 minute mark as Ryan Litt would find Parker Miller for the first goal on a man advantage.  The Rams answered back with an unassisted goal three minutes later for a 1-1 tie.  With 37 seconds left Drew Bell buried it five hole assisted by Ryan Helmka to end the period 2-1.
The team outworked the Rams in the second and had them frustrated, that left Mt. Forest shorthanded due to a penalty but Minto couldn't capitalize with an extra man.  In the end of the period Mt. Forest would tie the game 2-2.
In the 3rd period Minto's netminder Drew Richardson kept his team in the game as Mt. Forest played a man advantage at the 12 minute mark and a 2 man advantage at the 8 minute mark.  A 5-3 advantage turned into an unnoticed 5-4.  The puck dropped and Tyson Koopman would roof Drew Bells loose puck to win the game.  At that point the refs were alerted to the extra Minto player, and,  after a game delay and much debate the goal was disallowed.   This seemed to fire up the Mad Dogs as they had the Rams pinned in their end trying to get that goal back for the win.  Repeated shots resulted in the game winner as Leah Herrforts point shot was tipped in by Tyson Koopman with only 7 seconds left.

What a finish!!
A great way to start the season!!

Minto's next game will be in Port Elgin on Sunday Nov. 5 2011.
