The atom reps eliminated the Beeton Stingers in three straight games with a 3-2 overtime win Wednesday night in Harriston.
The Stingers, playing a do or die game, scored the first goal of the game half way through first period and added their second goal just 30 seconds into the second period.
The Mad Dog’s Parker Miller would respond at the 14:00 minute mark of the second on a beautiful deke after being set up by Reid Lobsinger and Ryan Litt. Cody Camm would tie the game six minutes later, firing a lazer beam from the point set up by Brodie Hoffele’s face off win in the offensive zone.
The score would remain tied at two throughout the third period. Trevor Scott held the Mad Dogs in by turning away the Stingers as they pressed hard knowing this could be their last game. With 2:22 remaining in OT, Parker Miller carried the puck out of the corner and scored on another beautiful deke to end the game!
The Mad Dogs were very impressed with Beeton’s play, determination and sportsmanship throughout the series.
The Mad Dogs now move on to the OMHA Semi Finals against the winner of Centre Hasings and Newcastle. Currently these two teams are tied 1-1 and both games have been decided in overtime.
