What a day!
The Atom LL held their annual tournament on Suday Jan 18th at the Palmerston Arena
We opened the tournament with a 8:00 am game against Mt Forest. It was a good attempt but Mt Forest won 4-0. Ben Riley played solid in goal and was awarded the MVP for the game.
Our next game was against Wingham and what a game! No score in the first period but Minto opened up with a goal by Ben Riley, assisted by Deanna Vaughan and Austin Richardson. Wingham came back and scored in the next minute, tying us at 1-1. Again the third period was scoreless and into overtime we went. Scoring for Minto with 9.5 seconds left was Tyler Quigley, assisted by Colin Brown and Josh Langridge. MVP for this game was Tyler Quigley. Ryan Grandy played awesome in goal. Winning this game sent Minto to the "B" Championship Game.
The "B" Championship game was against New Hamburg. It was a tough game with no scoring in the 1st and New Hamburg getting 2 in the 2nd. Minto was bogged down with pentalties, giving New Hamburg the advantage and win, 6-1. Scoring for Minto was Austin Richardson, assisted by Ryan Grandy. MVP was awarded to Spensor White for his excellent defense. Ben Riley was again solid in goal for the Maddogs.
A great day of hockey was enjoyed by everyone.
