Silverstick Finalist
What a weekend of Hockey

The Boys sure did themselves and their parents proud this weekend. They started very early Friday with a 8am game and for some a 4:30am wakeup call to play the Essa Eagles. Skating hard and peppering the Essa net they came out with a 2-0 victory and a shutout for Owen. Game 2 saw us playing a very strong Lake Sturgeon Thunder Team but we were up to the task and beat them 5-3 which allowed our grateful parents to have a 2:15pm start time on Saturday as opposed to a 9:15 am game. This put us in first Place in our division and gave us a bye to the semis where we played a equally pesky Bruce Pennisula Predators. Quickly going out to 2-0 lead thanks to Owen W first goal of the year  only to let our foot off the gas and let them tie it at 2. This created a bit of stress for the parents until Brody M scored with 9.8 secs left. This win put us in the finals vs the Sturgeon Lake Thunder who came looking for revenge for their earlier loss against us. The Boys came out hard peppering the Thunder goalie with shots but unfortunately the thunder got the bounces and made it 1-0 with 29 secs left in the 1st. The game stayed that way until 13:50 in the third when Jake R made a nice passing play to Brody M to tie it at one. Unfortunately the thunder scored 15 secs later to go ahead for good the Maddogs hustled and tried their best but could not get the equalizer again.  We played the final missing a key D and a injury to Elliot but the boys picked up the slack and showed hustle and character.

With Hunter, Owen and Ryan leading some dangerous rushes and playing some solid D. We missed both Duncan's solid D and rushing the puck and also Elliot's speed and ability to create open ice for his line mates in the final Game. Kyle H and Keagan T as per usual worked their butt off and created some good scoring chances. Daniel and Jared continued feeding their wingers and helping out the d in our Zone. Brayden H did some excellent backchecking and with his shot is always dangerous. Logan R filled in admirably as a d and when moved to center got a goal and used his speed size and reach very effectively. Ethan M made some very smart passes and played much larger than his size. Jake R and Brody M were on fire  getting 18 points between them with Brody Scoring 6 goals in the Tournament and a Hat trick in the first game vs the Thunder.
Thanks to Tristan for being at the ready and supporting the boys. We also missed Graydon and Austin and wish them quick recovery.

Final result wasn't what we had hoped for but everybody did their best and gave themselves an excellent chance of winning and served notice they can Play with the best of them. The final was also a fiery competitive game with a hard compete level and the Maddogs acquitted themselves quite well.
