The Atom Rep team travelled to Alvinston to play in the Silver Stick tournament during Christmas Break.

The first game proved to be a challenge against Ilderton as the outplayed us winning 8-0. After a night of motel chaos the Maddogs decided to show up and play against Norwich. It was an end to end action for both teams. Norwich started off strong by getting up on us 2-0. But persistence pays off as Lucus Oxford buried the puck passed their tender to bring the score to 2-1. Oxford, with his second of the day, then put us on the scoreboard again from a rebound shot to make it a tie game. At this point the fans were all sitting at the edge of their seat as the game went into double overtime. Trevor Scott was peppered with shots and stood on his head to keep us in the game. Minto then went into a shoot-out with Norwich, however Norwich came out ahead.

The Atom Rep team travelled to Clinton on Saturday however they came out with a 2 - 1 loss. Minto’s only goal was scored by Blair Butchart. The Maddogs were outshot however Scott again kept them in the game.

On Sunday Minto hosted their tournament and played Arran- Elderslie the first game. Passing proved to be key as they dominated the game with a 10 – 0 win . A great team effort! Goals and assists as follows; Brodie Hoffele (5 goals, 1 assist), Curtis Erb (1 goal, 2 assists), Butchart (1 goal, 1 assist), Kaleb Soloman (1 goal), Cody Camm (1 goal), Lucus Oxford (1 goal, 1 assist), Ben Riley (2 assists).

The second game Minto played West Lincoln Wrath. It was a fast paced game with the Wrath coming out strong. The Wrath scored 2 goals in the first that Minto left unanswered. Blair Butchart however would put us on the scoreboard in the second from a pass from Brett Zabel. Butchart then scored twice in the third with Reid Lobsinger getting an assist. The score was Minto 3 West Lincoln 4.

Minto then went on to play West Lincoln in the “A” Finals. The Wrath again came out to win scoring the first 3 goals of the game. Minto again had to answer back and Hoffele did just that. That seemed to spark the Maddogs as they put it all out there in the final period of the game. Zabel would then bury a rebound on a pass from Hoffele and Oxford. The Maddogs would not give up however it just wasn’t enough to tie the Wrath. Good Game Boys on the “A” Side Finalists. Thanks to Cliff and Jolie for organizing a great tournament and to all the parent volunteers For helping it run successfully!! WAY TO GO MINTO !!!
