Jaxon
On Sunday Jan 24 a very good Drayton team came to Harriston Arena to see if the Minto Peewee reps recent success was for real. We had lost the previous 3 games to Drayton by a combined score of 17-3 and with all 3 goals in one game a 8-3 loss. Drayton had a 9-4-3 regular season record for 21 pts. while Minto had a 2-13-1 record for 5 pts. Betting money would seem to favour Drayton but this is the new and improved Mad Dogs with improved Bite. Have I mentioned yet the game our number 14 had.

Jaxon W has been very steady and dependable all year but in the last couple of weeks he has been on fire. Surprisingly his dazzling rushes and pinpoint passes haven't led to a avalanche of points but im quite sure they have led to goals scored by his teammates and appreciated by his teammates. He has smartly jumped up and joined or even lead quite a few offensive attacks.

Well              6:45 of the 1st period Jaxon scored Bar Down from Cody I
5:18 of the 1st period Jaxon Scored Unassisted
And then with 38 sec left Jaxon Scored from Elliot and Brandon

A late penalty gave Drayton an early power play goal in the second and swung the momentum in Draytons favour and less than 3 minutes into the 2nd the game was tied.

Cue Jaxon     6:37 of the 2nd Period Jaxon Scored from Connor
And then on the same shift Jaxon while shooting the puck in and intending to change SCORED Again with his back to the play while he was going off the ice. The last goal was fortunate but the other 4 were all buried and well earned. Drayton scored to make it 5-4 with 9 mins left.  Connor M  Scored unassisted with a nice end to end rush to split the Drayton D and roofing it to give us some breathing room with 1:27 left. Than Elliot M scored assisted by Connor and Nick W  8 seconds later to make it 7-4. Drayton though didn't give up and scored with 1:08 left for a final of 7-5. Jaxon had a amazing game but it takes a team to win.
Owen let in 5 goals but played well unfortunately his team forgot that they have to play every shift. Especially against a dangerous team like Drayton. Clark C had a very solid defensive game and with Connor M created numerous scoring oppurtunties. Matthew W and Clayton M continued with their aggressive fore-checking by using their strength and speed. Brody M played his position well and had a few scoring chances. Nick W used his size and reach to his advantage in both the offensive and defensive zones. Mason was his usual Steady Eddie as he always seems to be in the right place and make the right play. Connor was a pleasure to watch with his effortless looking skating and strong defensive and offensive play. Brandon cont with his relentless forecheck and all out hustle and heart. Elliot m had some dangerous rushes and made some nice passes. Cody skated hard and frequently covered Jaxon when Jaxon rushed the puck.
