On Saturday January 24, 2015 the Mad Dogs hosted Mitchell in
Palmerston. This was the 2nd
game of the round robin play of the WOAA Neilson Playdowns. While Minto was looking for win number 2
against Mitchell, Mitchell was looking to even the score by winning the second
matchup against Minto.
The game started with back and forth action; both teams working hard to get the first goal advantage. The first goal came 3 ½ minutes into the game – scored by Minto. Scoring for the Mad Dogs was Ian Jamieson, assisted by Connor Rowley. A minute later Mitchell lit up the scoreboard to tie the game up. Minto dug deep to get into Mitchell’s end and get numerous shots on net as well as capitalizing on several rebounds. Minto managed to score 3 more unanswered goals in the 1st period. Heading into the 2nd period with a 4 – 1 lead, it was apparent that the Mad Dogs were going to keep the pressure on. For the first five minutes the game remained a close match until Mitchell managed to lift one into Minto’s net to make the score 4 – 2. The Mad Dogs worked their passing skills to move the puck up for another scoring chance. Will Dennison, on a pass from Andrew Mallett moved in on the Mitchell goalie and managed to put one past him. Less than two minutes later Mitchell notched a goal of their own. This made the score 5 – 3 going into the 3rd.
During a penalty filled 3rd period both teams managed to each score one more goal. Scoring in the third for Minto was Tanner Loos. The game ended in a score of 6 – 4 for Minto.
Drew Richardson played a strong game in net for the Mad Dogs.

The Bantam AE’s play their next game on Tuesday January 27th in Clifford at 6:30pm. They meet BCH for the 3rd game of the OMHA Quarter Finals. If you are looking for a hockey game to watch Tuesday night come out and cheer them on!!
