Drew Bell was the recipient of the Hard Working Pee Wee Helmet numerous times during the 2013 – 2014 Season. Better known as “Bellie “, Drew was selected by his teammates to be their Captain. Drew is not the largest Mad Dog by size, not the fastest Mad Dog in skating the dreaded “ Mile “ drill, nor the Mad Dog with the hardest shot, but for sure, when Drew was on the ice, he was in control of the Mad Dog play and the game. Whether Drew was quarterbacking the Mad Dog powerplay, digging the puck out of the corner with most times two opposing players surrounding him, those end to end rushes while carrying the puck or
playing those 2 + minute penalty killing shifts when the team got into penalty trouble, sometimes down 2 players,
every Mad Dog player and fan knew that you would come through with the best move and puck decision in any given game situation. In fact, Drew’s play on the ice does mirror that of his favourite NHL player - Kris Lentang’s role with the Pittsburg Penguins.
Whether it was a pass to a fellow teammate, a wrister or slap shot from the blue line or one of the many “ toe drags “ which Drew was famous for, his Warrior Stick very seldom let him down. Drew set a goal for the season to achieve a 100 points …. we are still counting all your points but we’re pretty sure you accomplished this goal.
Drew, Thank You for being the Pee Wee Mad Dog Captain this year. Your leadership and contributions on and off the ice for your team were noticed and appreciated by everyone.
