PeeWee AE win WOAA Dave Neilson Championship!!!!
Our PeeWee AE 4/5 division has wrapped up an amazing season with winning the WOAA Dave Neilson Championship title against Elma Logan on April 3rd in Listowel.
This final game became a bit of a goalie against goalie run as many shots were pelted at both goalies from different angles and different strategies. With one of our key players out from receiving a very bad ref call in the weekend tournament prior to this game, the team knew they were going to have to battle harder than ever. They did fight that battle, and it was finally a goal rushed in by Will Dennison passed across and fired into the open net side by Noah Aitken that capitalized the win. Strong defensive play by the team for the rest of the game held that lead and the victory by Minto.
Final Game score was 1-0 for Minto.
After being on the ice 21 days out of 31 prior to this game including several long road trips the team was exhausted and this was a very well deserved win.
This is the first AE team since Minto's amalgamation 24 years ago and what a way to open up that title, with an OMHA Championship win and with 2 WOAA championship wins!
The boys had a couple of tournaments where they were matched against higher ranked teams and they did very well and became stronger due to these challenges.
This team has taken on every challenge, persevered and it has paid off not only in wins, but in strength, bonding and TEAM effort.
Thank you to Dale and the coaching staff for leading this team to victory and pushing the boys when they needed to be pushed. Job well done!!!
