The Wingham Regional Silver Stick got under way tonight for the Atom Reps.
The WOAA division "C" 1st place Minto Mad Dogs would take on the 2nd place Mildmay Monarchs.
Only one goal separates these teams in total goals for in league play and Minto is the only team to beat Mildmay so far this season.
Minto took to the ice tonight and put their 15-1-1 record on the line and beat a determined Mildmay team with a score of 4-1. Parker Miller would get Minto on the board at 7:36 of the 1st on a an assist from Ryan Litt to make it 1-0. A minute later Mildmay would capitalize on a loose puck behind the Minto's net to tie it up 1-1. Only minutes later after a puck battle, Ryan Litt would again find Parker Miller who would streak up the ice and split the defence for the go-ahead goal. Minto would hold that lead to end the period 2-1.
In the second period, both teams would battle hard for the puck. Lots of end to end play on Winghams big ice would wear on both teams, but opportunities came for scoring as Minto would ring the posts in Mildmays end and Drew Richardson would shut down all offence in Minto's end, even during a penalty kill.
In the 3rd period, Minto played short handed including a 5-3 and did their best to hold off the Monarchs, they still managed to get shots on net, Parker Miller would score 2 more in the period on assists from Boston Will and Tyson Koopman to end the period for the 4-1 final.
