The Minto Midget Rep team loses 3 close games to Wingham
Minto deserved a better fate last night as Wingham swept the best of five series. With the game tied 3-3 in the third the linesman got tangled up with the Minto defender giving Wingham a breakaway. Kyle Diniz stood tall in net but Wingham was able to score on the rush. A blocked shot Wingham shot deflected back onto their own players stick found the back of the net to give Wingham a 5-3 lead with two minutes to go. Minto didn't give in and as the Wingham fans got out the brooms and started to sweep the arena floor Minto scored a goal to make it 5-4 with 1:30 left. Then with their net empty, Minto maintained pressure in the Wingham zone. The puck was passed back to the point for a shot on net when Minto Defenceman, Brad Cowen's, stick shattered allowing Wingham an easy breakaway and an easy goal.
Minto should be proud by the way they played throughout the series. The bounces just were not with them.
