Minto Bantam Reps lose Heart Breaker in Game # 6
Game #6

Game #6 in the series went Monday night at 8:00pm in Lakefield and the Minto Boys weren’t about to go down without a fight. Minto worked hard in the offensive end early and the hard work was rewarded when Devin Williams broke in alone and drew first blood. Ryan Binkle and Brett Cowan took assists on the goal. Some early penalty trouble in the second period gave Lakefield some momentum and they scored midway through the period to tie things up at one. Both teams battled hard from that point on but strong goaltending especially from Brett Cook of Minto kept the score at 1 – 1 through regulation time. It was only fitting that this best of 5 game series would go to 6 games having to play four nights in a row in rinks 3 ½ hrs apart.  With both teams having 14 goals aside heading into Overtime in game 6 it meant that just one goal difference in the entire series would decide the outcome.

Unfortunately the Cinderella story ended early as Lakefield came out fast and furious in OT taking advantage when Minto failed to clear their zone and rifled one off both posts before settling in the back of the net just 20 seconds into Overtime.

The Minto Bantam Reps can be proud of their great season having played 4 series and 21 games in a month and a half coming one goal short of the OMHA Finals. Lakefield goes on to play Six Nations in the Final.
