Atom Rep Mad Dogs end year on a high.
The Minto Atom Rep Mad Dogs travelled to Plattsville on March 20th to

participate in the 40th annual Little Brave tournament. On January 3rd Plattsville made the trip to Minto to play in our Atom tournament so it seemed only fitting that our team go to their tournament. The Mad Dogs day started out a little odd in the Plattsville Arena when the kids found out the dressing rooms were upstairs, how could this be was on comment or we have to go down stairs with our skates on was another, but yes this is true the dressing rooms are upstairs. After the initial shock of the dressing room issue we got down to playing hockey and first up for the Atom team was Lincoln from the Welland area. The Mad dogs came ready to play today and jumped out to 1 -0 lead just 5:33 into the game as Mackenzie Pridham pinched in from the point picked off a pass and fired in her first of the year. Minto then fired home 2 more goals in the second period the first on great individual effort from Eric Small and the second on a bullet wrist shot from the half boards by Avery Mcissac on a neet feed from Pridham. Tyler Reiner had a pretty easy time of it in net with only about 5 shots but one of them was an awesome glove save.

The second game of the day was against East Lambton and the effects of lunch had a big effect on the players as they were a little slow to get going falling behind by 2 shortly into the 2nd period. With 38 seconds to go in the 2nd period Austin Camm fired home a heat seeking missile to the top corner to bring the club back to life. 2 minutes into the 3rd Cole Cherrey took an avery McIssac feed and banged it in off the post to tie the game at 2, just over a couple minutes later Small on a pass from Cherrey scored the winner to send Minto to the "A" final against a high flying team from Thamesford.

The Final game saw a Thamesford team that had beaten up on their opposition all day to the tune of 9 to 2 and 7 to 1 had the coaching staff thinking they were in for quite the game but this didn't seem to phase the players as they came out with fire in their bellies or maybe the pasta from lunch started to kick in. With the team shorthanded Blair Butchart with some nice work in the corner found a wide open Regan Cook in front of the Thamesford net and popped in a short handed tally with the other assist going to Derek Williams. After killing off 4 first period penalties the Mad dogs found themselves short handed again late in the 2nd period but with some more fine work Butchart scored again to go up by 2 goals. Then with the clock ticking down and 1.2 seconds left on the clock #55 Butchart came in with a sick spinnerama alla Jason #55 Blake from the Leafs to stake the Dogs to a 3 zip lead. Thamesford managed to get an early 3rd period goal but this team was not going to be denied today and held the fort to win the 40th annual Plattsville Little Brave tournament. Great job boys and girls, what a way to finnish off the year.
