Novice Rep - Minto takes Durham in Game #5 to win the semi-final series

After losing to Durham the night before, Minto's team had to regroup and get themselves ready for the battle that will take place in Durham Tuesday night.
It wasn't too far into the first period and Minto found themselves down 2-0 and feeling the pressure that Durham was here to win. This was going to take everyone's best effort on the ice to get things going in the Durham end. By the end of the first period Minto had done some work and managed to get on the scoreboard and go ahead of Durham 3-2. You could feel that Minto had found their groove and the battle began. The team was able to add three more goals by the start of the third period and they had a good lead in the game. There was still alot of time left in the game for Durham to catch up so Minto could not relax with a four goal lead. Durham soon answered back and was able to put the puck in the net again to come within three goals. Minto worked really hard to free the puck and move it into the Durham zone relentlessly and did score one more time in the third period to make the score 7-3. There was about 5 minutes left in the game. Could Minto hang on to clinch the series? Durham kept putting pressure on Minto's defense and found they had to shoot from far out but did manage to get two more goals leaving two minutes left in the game with a score of 7-5. Fans were up off their seats cheering their teams on waiting for the time to run out. That was the longest two minutes of the game. Sticks and gloves were flying everywhere. Congratulations to the Novice Rep team for advancing to the final round of the Hodges Division playoff round. They will meet Seaforth next week. Good Luck to all players.

Novice Rep - Durham is taking Minto to Game #5

On Monday, March 8th, Durham travelled to Harrriston to play what could be the final game if Minto wins. Minto was not ready to play hard enough so got caught losing 8-2. Most of Durham's goals were scored in the first period and when Minto started to play the scoring was kept to two goals. Minto knew that if they had come out stronger the game would have been closer as they have been with Durham. The team now knows how strong they need to play tomorrow for game #5 if they want to take the series.
Goals were scored by Ryan Litt and Josh Gray.

On Friday, March 5th, the Novice Rep team travelled to Durham to play game #3 of the tied series with the Durham Huskies.

Minto Bantam Reps on a 7 Game Winning Streak After losing a disappointing and attainable series against Wingham, the Minto Rep Bantam hockey team entered in a six game round robin series against BCH (Bayfield, Clinton, Hensall), Hanover and Shallow Lake. Throughout this series Minto earned 29 goals while only giving up 13. They made it a clean sweep, winning all six games. BCH 4-2 and 7-1, Hanover 4-2 and 8-4 and two close games with Shallow Lake 3-2. The entire team earned points and contributed to the wins. Derrik Riff (2 goals, 3 assists), Greg Allen (5 goals, 4 assists), Brendan Aitken (4 goals, 5 assists), Cole Leslie (2 goals, 8 assists), Josh Hoffele (8 goals, 2 assists), Keaton Ross (3 goals, 2 assists), Tristan Small (1 goal), Cameron Ellis (1 goal, 1 assist), Todd Reiner (1 goal, 1 assist), Todd Donkersgoed (2 goals, 2 assists), Curtis Shorey (3 assists), Leigh Mercey (1 assist), Cameron Charlebois (2 assists), Josh Underwood (3 assists), Derril Hoover (1 assist). We appreciate and commend our affiliated goalies from the Bantam LL and Atom Rep teams. Nick MacDougall, Quinton Donkersgoed and Tyler Reiner have been amazing in net. The bantams have now entered a best 2 out of 3 game series against Seaforth. The winner from this series will play the winner from a Durham/Shallow Lake series. Minto played their first game in Seaforth on March 6th. They took an early lead when Riff shot two between the pipes in the first period. Mercey made it a 3-0 game and Hoffele would add two more to finish off the second period leading 5-2. Leslie and Donkersgoed added a couple unassisted goals to end the game 7-2. Earning assists were Ross (2), Mercey (2), Shorey, Underwood, Leslie and Hoffele. Game two will take place on Tuesday March 9th

Novice Rep - Minto Rep share points with Durham in Semi-Final Series

The first game of the series was played in Durham on March 2. Minto found themselves having to find a faster gear if they wanted to compete in this series. Minto was scored on within the first minute of the game. Minto managed to battle enough to keep the score close. The first period ended with a score of 2-1 for Durham and then 5-3 winning score maintained by Durham at the end of the second. Minto won the third period but lost the game 6-5.

Novice Rep - Minto Novice Rep won 3-0 in first series playdown

Minto was paired up with Ripley to play the first round of the Hodges division for Novice Rep playdowns. On Saturday February 20th, Minto travelled to Ripley to start the best 3 of 5 series. Minto pulled away with a convincing win of 9-2.
