On Dec 18, 2011, Minto would play their last game of 2011. The opponent was Mount Forest, who Minto has had a couple of close games against this year. Minto opened the scoring with just 3 seconds left in the First when Connor Rowley tucked one past the goalie on a great pass from Connor Forrester. Minto struck first again in the second period when Connor Forrester beat the Mount Forest goalie, assisting was Brandon Woodroffe. Mount Forest would get on the board themselves with 56 seconds left in the second period to come within one of the home team. In the third Mount Forest showed more determination scoring 2 goals 4 minutes apart to go up 3-2. Don't leave your seats folks, this one is not over.One minute left to play in the game and still down by one, Minto turned up the heat and put some pressure on Mount Forest when Connor Forrester would find the back of the net with 30 seconds left, assisting was Rylynn Sinclair. Back to centre ice for the face off, and Minto would win the face off, and the 2 Connor's would work there majic together. Connor Forrester would complete the hat trick with 11 seconds left, on a great pass from Connor Rowley to put Minto up 4-3 and preserve the victory and the winning streak. Fans where treated to a very good game, from both teams and definitely got there $5.00 worth.
With Christmas and New Years behind them it was time to hit the ice again. Jan 2, 2012 saw Minto travel to Listowel, to face the Cyclones. Minto would come out with an 11-1 victory. Jan 6, 2012 would see the Minto team travel to Ayton with 9 skaters and a goalie.Some players would see some different positions in this game. Minto would be victorious in this match by a score of 7-3. It took until the 3 period for Minto to open things up against a determined Ayton team. Jan 7, 2012 the team travelled to Mildmay. Excited to play in front of one of their teachers, who lives in Mildmay and came to watch her students, the team did not disappoint, with a very strong outing, winning 13-1. Some very strong play and great heads up passing made this game even more enjoyable to watch than the score itself. Scoring for Minto was Connor Forrester (3), Connor Rowley (4), Bailey Drost (2), and Brandon Woodroffe with his first of the season. Assists went to Connor Forrester, Brandon Woodroffe, Chloe Kaye and Bailey Drost each with one.
The next game for Minto is Monday January 9, when they will take on the other Minto team. The last time these 2 teams met, Minto #1 got the upper hand with a 3-2 victory. Minto #2 is looking to derail their home town rivals and dish them their first loss of the season. Game time is 7:00pm in Palmerston, Come out and get treated to a great hockey game.
