09-10 Atom Rep - MINTO MIDGETS EXTEND SERIES WITH STAYNER

The Minto Midget Rep team began their 6 point series with Stayner, in the OMHA quarter final playdowns, on February 12th in Stayner.
A gritty performance on the road earned Minto a 2-2 tie, with nothing solved in overtime. Cody Macdonald and Brent Dunbar had Minto goals while Josh Hoffele, Ryan Woestenenk, Jon Ditner and Macdonald collected assists.
Game two was played on February 14th in Harriston. Minto came out on the wrong end of a 5-3 score. Goal scorers for Minto were Ryan Binkle, Chris Hardie and Denver Hill. Hill also collected the lone assist for Minto.
Game three was played in Stayner on February 16th. Stayner took advantage of costly defensive lapses and Minto's offense sputtered as Stayner captured a 5-1 win and take a strangle hold on the series. David Hagerman had the lone goal for Minto in the loss with Hardie assisting.
Game four was played in Palmerston on February 18th. Stayner scored two early goals in the first and led 3-1 heading to the third period. Refusing to go down without a fight, however, Minto fought back in the 3rd to tie it 3-3 and force overtime. Then, only 33 seconds into the extra frame, Ryan Binkle's high wrist shot lifted Minto to a 4-3 win. Other goal scorers for Minto were Denver Hill, Thomas Brown and Brent Dunbar, while Binkle, Hagerman, Hoffele, Brett Maher and Ditner had assists. Brandon Macdonald got the win in goal for Minto.
The series now shifts to Stayner on February 20th for game five. Minto needs a win to force a tie-breaker at home on February 21st. Visit mintominorhockey.ca for updates and results.
